WOODEN VILLA
The wooden villa, located amidst the lush embrace of MAS, Ubud, is one of the two houses we created for a client who owned several antique Gladaks and wanted to recycle them by incorporating their parts into a new, open, and luxurious property for Airbnb. The result is a modern design with a Balinese vernacular spirit. Different Gladaks are interconnected to the main house by pathways, hosting some of the bedrooms and providing the privacy required for perfect rest. Local materials were carefully chosen for the project, including reclaimed Indonesian ironwood, rammed earth walls for the new semi-open bathrooms, limestone plaster for internal walls, natural stones, and an alang-alang roof combined with wooden tiles (ironwood shingles).
The seamless integration of antique Gladaks and locally sourced materials in this modern villa not only preserves cultural heritage but also offers guests a serene retreat amidst the natural beauty of Ubud.
